Immerse yourself in Tetouan, one of northern Morocco's most captivating and underrated cities, on an unforgettable half-day cultural tour. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tetouan's medina is among the best-preserved in the Maghreb — a labyrinth of whitewashed alleyways, ancient carved gates, and façades bearing the layered influences of Andalusian, Moorish, and Berber heritage.
Guided by a local expert, you'll step through one of the medina's historic gates and travel back in time. You'll meet Tetouan's artisans — cobblers, potters, weavers, and embroiderers — who keep alive crafts passed down since the Moors arrived from Andalusia in the 15th century. Tetouan's souks are a celebration of colour, scent, and texture: spices, babouches, copper wares, zellige tilework, and embroidered silks fill every corner in a fascinating display.
The tour continues to Hassan II Square, Tetouan's grand architectural centrepiece where the royal palace and the great mosque overlook a broad esplanade with a distinctly European feel. You'll then cross into the Spanish Quarter (Ensanche), a legacy of the protectorate era, with its wide boulevards, Art Deco façades, and café terraces that evoke another age.
The half-day ends over a glass of Moroccan mint tea in a traditional Tetouan café — the perfect moment to reflect on everything you've seen and chat with your guide about the city's remarkable history.
